Details for OTF @ LLA, June 16
Good afternoon OTF Families!
Here are the details for our meet tomorrow against the Lakewood Lasers(LLA). This is one of the largest teams in the league and there's always a lot of energy at Lakewood meets. It's supposed to be very hot so bring plenty of fluids. There is very little shade there so canopies are a good idea to help keep folks cool. Bring plenty of fluids, cooling towels, whatever you have to keep your crew comfortable. Please note the changes in parking, one side of the street only. LS Police will ticket cars not following the rules.
Volunteer schedule will be out later today. Be sure to look at your SwimTopia app to see your job if you receive an email saying you're working. Swimmers events won't be finalized until tomorrow afternoon so don't worry if they change in the next 24 hours.
See you soon!
Dawn, Susan and Coach Kristi
OTF @ LLA, June 16, 2021
Location:
The Cove, Lakewood Team Pool
4105 NW Lake Drive
LS, MO 64064
Parking: Please note there has been a change in parking along Lake Drive in front of The Cove. There is no longer parking allowed on both sides of the street in between Cimarron St. and Locust St. This is enforced by the city of Lee’s Summit, and may result in a ticket if you park there so please observe the posted No Parking signs. Swimmers and/or spectators and crash gear may be dropped off in front of the grassy area. The parking lot near the pool is reserved for coaches, league reps and concessions.
Events: Try to have your swimmer’s events written on their arms prior to the meet but older swimmers will help anyone who doesn’t have that done.
Warm-Ups: Visiting swimmers need to arrive between 4:45 and 5pm. Your warm-up time will be 5:15-5:45 pm. Meet by the team flag in the grassy area for dryland and to walk on deck together in groups. The meet will begin at 6:00pm.
Pool: The Lakewood pool is a 6 lane pool that is 25 meters long, not 25 yards long like the OTF pool. You will notice different seed times because they are converted from yards to meters. This is the only meter pool in the league. It also has the highest diving blocks. Not all swimmers feel comfortable using them. Coaches will assess during warmups what swimmers should do to start events during the meet.
Volunteers: Please check in at your team’s volunteer table under the Cove Pavilion near the snack bar. Timer and Stroke & Turn Judge meetings will be held at 5:50 pm near the announcer's table.
Crash Zone: We have grassy areas where families are welcome to set up chairs and spread out. We are encouraging parents to set up chairs in the grass and not on the pool deck as some have in the past. Please note that the playground and spray park will be restricted.
Concessions: Chick-fil-a will be available, as well as a Hawaiian Ice truck. We encourage families to bring plenty of water to keep everyone hydrated. SSL rules about no alcohol being consumed at a swim meet are expected to be followed and will be enforced.
We look forward to a fun swim meet on Wednesday!
